12. Shopping!

Author's POV

"Are we really doing this?"

Yang asked him in disbelief.

"Shopping! Seriously? That too bridal shopping?"

"Shut up!"

Damon groaned annoyed by his questions and wore his jacket.

"Groom's shopping isn't really difficult, we just need to get you dresses which are matching to bridal clothes. And I have already transferred half of the wedding expenses to Maya's account. We are sorted..."

Yang exclaimed.

"We are mafia, bro... We don't go shopping!"

"It's a tradition, Yang... I have to buy a bridal dress for my bride... And you were complaining the other day that I don't pay attention to Durga, then why are you whining when I am going shopping with her?"

He shook his head.

"Because you don't know how difficult shopping is... Have you ever had a girlfriend?! No, right!... I had, and I know how this shit can be so exhausting... "

He warned.

"On top of that, this is a shopping for a wedding!"

"How hard it can be, stop whining for fuck sake... You are annoying me!"

He looked at him irritated and walked out of the room.

Yang followed him defeated.

"How hard can it be? You will know my, mafia lord."

Damon walked downstairs and met everyone at the dining table. He smirked at the old woman.

"How are you now?"

He asked Kalindi who was sitting at the table with a plastered hand.

"मत पूछो, बेटा... मैं तो जिंदगी से परेशान हो गई हूं" (Don't ask, son... I am devastated)

She said weakly.

He smirked.

"Get well soon."

"मोती, इसे परोसो और क्या तुमने मीरा को नाश्ता दिया?" (Moti, serve him and did you give Mira her breakfast?...)

Maya asked.

Moti placed Damon's plate in front of him and looked at Maya.

"पराठे तो बचे नहीं, मैं उनके लिए अभी बनाती हूँ" (There are no parathas left, I'll make some for her...)

(बनाने को कुछ नहीं बचा है, मोती... मैंने तुमसे कहा था कि उसके लिए भी कुछ अलग रख लेना।" (There is nothing left to make, Moti... I told you to keep some aside for her.)

Maya scolded.

"Give her mine..."

Damon handed his plate to Moti.

"No! You eat... I'll make something else for her."

Maya shook her head.

"No! I would be fine with fruit salad... This is heavy for me."

He assured and looked at Moti.

"Give it to her!"

Durga smiled at him.

"You are so sweet, Damon... Thank you so much. I'll make a fruit salad for you."

He nodded with a smile. Maya also looked at him impressed but Yang frowned. He has some doubts which Damon was now fueling.

"Do you have a soft spot for Mira or what?"

He whispered to Damon.

Damon smirked.

"You don't know me yet, Yang... Work hard!"

Yang shook his head knowing there was something in his evil mind.

They finished the breakfast and it was time to leave for the shopping.

"Be careful, this girl will empty your pockets."

Maya chuckled.

Damon smiled.

"Thanks for the heads up!"

"Maa?"

Durga looked at her in disbelief.

"Just kidding, where are your friends?"

She asked.

"They are coming there directly... We are out of the city, remember?"

She huffed and Maya chuckled.

"Let's go!"

Damon said and Durga waved goodbye to Maya before following him.

He opened the car door for her and she sat inside. Damon went to his side and his eyes fell on the Mira who was having her breakfast on the balcony while watching something on her mobile. She was so focused on the breakfast and was definitely loving it.

"Wild cat!"

Damon smiled at her and sat inside the car.

Yang was driving the car.

"So, my lady! Where are we going?"

He looked at Durga through the mirror.

"There is a showroom which is one stop for wedding clothes... My friends are already waiting there!"

She informed.

"Okay, show me the way because I don't know!"

He smiled and she nodded.

Durga looked at Damon and tried to initiate a conversation but he was busy on his phone. He ended the conversation with short replies.

Her face fell and Yang noticed.

"So excited for the shopping?"

He tried to distract her from Damon.

She smiled at him.

"Very much!"

Yang entertained her throughout their ride while Damon was busy in his own work. Durga loved how Yang was friendly and made jokes while maintaining boundaries.

"We are here!"

She declared and all of them got out.

Durga ran towards her friends happily and hugged them.

"Sorry, sorry... I know I am late!"

"It's okay... The bride to be can have that much footage..."

Tanisha teased.

"Oh my god!"

Aditi looked at Damon and her jaw dropped.

"Is that your fiance, Durga?..."

She squealed excitedly.

"You lucky bitch!... He is so handsome..."

"He looks like a fictional character, dude... So handsome!"

Tanisha said impressed.

"You are really lucky, Durga."

Durga chuckled but she was nervous. She knows that Damon is ignorant towards her.

"His friend is cute too."

Aditi teased.

"Is he single?"

"Shut up, guys... I'll introduce you to them."

She called them.

"Damon! This is Tanisha and this is Aditi... Girls, he is Damon and this is Yang, his best friend!"

"Hii, so how are you liking Kolkata and our beautiful girl?"

Tanisha teased.

"It's pretty, just like you ladies... And Durga is not just beautiful, she is amazing."

Damon smiled charmingly at the girl and they were flattened. Durga blushed at his reply.

"Let's go!"

He walked inside and they looked at him in awe.

"He is so charming, Durga... I am literally jealous."

Aditi huffed.

"Does he have a brother?"

"They are mafias, you shouldn't dream about them!"

Tanisha warned.

Aditi cleared her throat.

"Yeah, right!.. My bad, I am not going to fall for red flags anymore"

They shook heads at her silliness.

"So pastel is final, right?"

Tanisha asked.

"Yeah! It's in trend... All celebrities are wearing pastel in their weddings... It looks classy."

Aditi agreed.

"Yep! I don't want anything heavy or bright. I have selected some designs, let's see!"

Durga replied.

Damon and Yang stood aside as girls started trying out dresses. Durga asked Damon for opinions about dresses of other functions.

The engagement, mehndi, Sangeet and haldi. All dresses were finalized and it was turn to select the bridal lehenga.

"Ma'am, we also have some amazing designs in red... Do you want to see it?"

The girl asked.

"Later, first we want to see pastel colours"

Durga replied politely.

"Sure, ma'am"

The girl showed her all the dresses she wanted.

Damon looked at her dress bored. It was almost giving the vibes of white and he doesn't like white colour. Not since he has seen Mira in white.

"Damon, how is this?"

She asked with a wide smile. She loved the off white lehenga.

He nodded at her with lost thought.

"You didn't like it?"

She asked.

"It's good!"

He sighed still not sure about whether he should break her heart or not.

"Take it!"

He didn't break her heart!

She smiled.

"Are you sure? I am going to wear it at the wedding so you have to be sure! This is the final lehenga!"

She warned.

He thought for a second. His bride was definitely not going to wear white at their wedding. He won't allow it.

"You liked it so take it"

He looked at the sales girl.

"But I want to see red dresses too!"

"Sure, sir!"

The girl asked her staff to bring red lehengas.

"But Damon, I wanted pastel colour."

Durga mumbled nervously at him.

He smiled at her.

"No doubt you look beautiful in pastel colours, sweetheart but I don't want my bride to be just beautiful... she will be the most beautiful and gorgeous bride in the world... People should look at my bride with a dropped jaw and pastels don't hold that power... It's red!"

He was smart to manipulate her.

"You can wear this one for the reception!"

"I think he is right, Durga!"

Tanisha agreed.

"We decided on pastel colours but it's not going with your complexion... You are not standing out as a bride... I think red is a great option..."

"Yeah, now I am feeling the same"

Aditi agreed too.

"Umm, okay!"

Durga was confused.

"I am confused now! You guys decide."

"Don't worry!"

Damon assured.

"We'll get the best lehenga for my bride"

She blushed at him but Yang noticed that he didn't say 'for you' he said 'for my bride' and it made him feel tense. He knows that Damon is speaking hidden words.

"Ma'am, if you are looking for light weight then these are our best collections!"

The girl helped her to try it.

Durga looked at Damon and he was not impressed with anything. He shook his head.

"Show us on the heavier side also..."

Tanisha suggested and Durga eyed her.

"You should learn from Mira, Durga... She was so particular about her red heavy lehenga when she was getting married. I still feel no one can beat her choice in dresses. She gets what she wants. even though Kabir didn't have much budget, she still got what she wanted with whatever she had."

Damon frowned when she said that. He has no idea why he hates when people take Kabir's name.

"Heavy?"

Durga looked at her bothered.

"She is Mira, she loves dramatic things... I won't be comfortable in it!"

"Babe, you have to manage for one day... I promise, you are going to look stunning... Just trust the process!"

She assured.

Damon rejected all lehengas as nothing grabbed his attention.

"Is that all!"

He scolded.

"Don't you have anything for an actual bride?... All these were disappointing."

"Sir, there are more designs which are really heavy... They are on the first floor... I didn't suggest it because ma'am didn't want heavy designs."

The girl informed him.

"Show me!"

Damon followed her.

"Ohh, he looks excited for the lehenga!"

Aditi teased.

Durga smiled while watching that he was taking interest.

The girl took him to the first floor and he roamed his eyes on the lehengas. He rejected one by one just with the glance but one lehenga grabbed his attention.

It was displayed on the mannequin behind the glass and he just loved it at first glance.

"This!"

He smiled.

The girl smiled.

"Sir, this is the one and only piece which was made by our team... The skirt is in multiple layers and the work on it is of pure gold and real gems which goes perfectly with the blood red colour. You can see that blouse material, it's all real gold and gems. It will surely give the royal look to your bride."

"Blood Red!"

He looked at the dress and was impressed.

"I want this!"

He ordered.

"Damon?"

Durga came up with her friends and looked at him confused.

"This!"

He declared.

Her friends gasped.

"Wow!"

They said in unison.

Durga looked at the dress with wide eyes.

"Oh my god! It's so beautiful... It's gorgeous.."

"Your choice is incredible"

Tanisha looked at Damon impressed.

The sales girl explained the dress to them and their jaw dropped.

"Real gold and gems?"

Aditi asked shocked.

"Durga, just take it... If you don't want to wear it, I'll wear it but just take it. It's a dream dress for every bride for sure!"

"What is the price?"

Durga asked the girl.

"It's the one and only piece Ma'am... It's 5 cr."

She informed.

Durga clasped her mouth.

"Maa will kill me!"

"Done!"

Damon ordered.

She looked at him shocked.

"Damon, this is almost our wedding budget ... What are you doing? It's too expensive!... We need to buy jewellery too!"

"Don't worry about it."

He smirked at her.

"Money is not the issue!"

She looked at him shocked as he made the payment.

"Thank you so much sir, all dresses will be delivered to the address in two days after alterations."

The manager informed them.

"Wow! Durga is definitely going to be the most beautiful bride."

Tanisha said excitedly and Durga smiled but she was nervous about Maya's reaction.

"Now jewellery!"

Aditi guided them towards the other showroom.

Damon again stayed quiet as they selected the jewellery for other functions.

"Now the jewellery which goes on that beautiful lehenga!"

Tanisha squealed excitedly.

Durga looked at Damon.

"Now you choose jewellery also because I don't know how costly the jewellery will be... I'll hand over the headache to you!"

Damon smirked and roamed his eyes in the shop.

"That one!"

He pointed at the fixture which had a heavy bridal set.

The man took it out.

"Sir, it's made up of rare gems and gold... It will go perfectly on the lehenga which madam showed us in the picture."

"Problem solved!"

Damon smiled at Durga.

"Bangles and Anklets!"

She smiled nervously.

Damon selected the same bangles for her and it was turn to select the anklets.

He looked at the pieces and shook his head disappointed.

"Something more heavy which would make the sound with each step... People should know that it's my bride who is walking."

"He is more Indian than any Indian man"

Aditi teased Durga.

"So particular about anklets!"

Durga chuckled but couldn't understand why he was so particular about anklets, she never wear anklets. It's Mira who loves anklets which makes sound.

The man finally showed him the piece which made him smile.

He grabbed it and it made melodious music with movements.

"Perfect!"

He asked them to pack it.

"Durga, he is so awesome... I want my groom to shop for me like this or else I am not getting married!"

Aditi whispered and teased her.

They were done with the shopping and it was time to go home.

"I thought you would buy the whole shop!"

Yang teased Damon.

"And I thought you don't like flashy things... But what I saw today was completely different"

Damon smirked as he sat inside and watched Durga who was saying goodbye to her friends.

"It's about Damon's bride, Yang... She will burn the hearts when she will walk on the floor."
