Author’s POV
“Liam, we are attacking Jaffery’s house tonight. Sources have informed us that his son is planning something, and we need to finish his whole family before they try anything.”
Glenn stood across the room, his voice was steady as he delivered the information. Jaffery had always been a problem, and even after his death, his bloodline was no less dangerous. His brothers and sons were known for being ruthless, and desperate men like them were capable of anything.
Liam sat on the chair, slightly leaned forward, cleaning his gun with slow and precise movements. His expression remained calm, but there was a cold focus in his eyes that made it clear he was already thinking ahead.
“Are you prepared?”
He asked without looking at Glenn.
“Everything is in place,”
Glenn replied confidently.
Liam checked the weapon one last time before placing it aside, his fingers tapped lightly on the table as if he was calculating something.
“I am coming with you,”
He said flatly.
Glenn frowned immediately.
“Why? We will handle everything. You don’t have to bother. We have it under control.”
Liam finally lifted his gaze, and the moment his eyes met Glenn’s, the room felt heavier.
“I am coming,”
He repeated in a low voice.
“What are you going to do about it?”
Glenn cleared his throat awkwardly, knowing there was no point in arguing further.
“We will leave at three in the morning.”
Liam leaned back, clearly annoyed.
“You fuckers don’t sleep or what? You are ruining my schedule too.”
He stood up, picking up his gun again.
“Anyway, I will be there.”
Glenn nodded and walked out, suppressing a smile because this was exactly how Liam was. Once he made a decision, there was no changing it.
At the same time, Lisa was pacing back and forth in the garden, her mind was restless and her expression tense. She had been walking like this for a while, unable to calm herself down after what had happened earlier.
“Lisa?”
She turned at the voice and saw Jack standing there, watching her carefully.
“I came here to share my problems,”
He said lightly,
“but you look like you already have too many.”
Jack was a successful man now, settled with his own family, calm and composed in ways he never was.
Lisa sighed deeply.
“Liam, Jack. He is my problem.”
Jack let out a small chuckle.
“Who did he kill now?”
“His heart,”
She replied instantly.
Jack raised his eyebrows, slightly amused but also curious. Lisa then told him everything that had happened with Surumi, explaining the entire situation in detail.
After listening, Jack shook his head.
“Why are you pressuring him? He has time. People take time to fall in love. It happens. Louis was just like him once.”
Lisa scoffed, clearly frustrated.
“Liam has no heart, Jack. He is not like Louis. He is hurting girls who are trying to love him, and no one will stay with him like that forever. He said he will never get married, and I know him well enough to believe that he actually can.”
She rubbed her face, trying to ease her frustration.
“I want my son to fall in love. I want him to settle down. I want him to become human.”
Jack looked at her with a questioning expression.
“And what exactly are you planning to do about it?”
Lisa’s expression changed, and a slow smirk appeared on her lips.
“Anything,”
She said.
“That bastard shouldn’t forget that I am his mother. I just need the perfect girl.”
At three in the morning, Liam left the house with his men. The city was silent, and the empty roads stretched ahead like a warning. The air itself felt heavy, as if it knew something violent was about to unfold.
Jaffery’s mansion stood tall in the distance, completely quiet. Everyone inside was asleep, unaware of what was coming for them.
The attack began without warning. At first, it was silent as the guards were taken down one by one, but soon the silence broke into chaos. Blood splattered across the floors as screams filled the air, echoing through the halls.
Liam moved through the house like a storm, his presence was as terrifying as his actions. Anyone who came in front of him did not survive. His movements were precise, efficient, and completely emotionless.
A man tried to run, but Liam caught him within seconds and slit his throat without hesitation. Another tried to fight back, but it ended just as quickly.
“No women?”
Liam asked, his voice calm despite the chaos around him.
Glenn, who had just taken down another man, replied,
“These bastards already killed all their women. There shouldn’t be anyone left.”
Liam did not react. He had seen enough of the world to know how cruel it could be.
“Check every room,”
He ordered.
“No one should be left behind.”
His men immediately spread out, breaking doors and searching every corner of the house.
Liam walked through the corridors, opening rooms one by one. Most of them were empty or filled with lifeless bodies, but nothing caught his attention until he reached one particular door.
He kicked it open forcefully and stepped inside, his eyes scanned the room.
There was no man inside but there was someone.
His brows furrowed slightly as he noticed a small figure curled up in the corner. He walked closer, his steps slow and silent. It was a woman. His eyebrows raised surprised.
She was asleep, her knees pulled close to her chest, her body barely covered, and her skin was marked with bruises and injuries. His gaze shifted, and he noticed the chain around her leg that was attached to a metal cage beside her.
She was tied like an animal and was treated worst than that.
Liam’s jaw tightened slightly. This was not new to him. Men like Jaffery were capable of such things, and this was exactly what he expected from them.
Still, something about it irritated him.
He crouched down beside her and gently moved a strand of hair away from her face.
She flinched instantly, her eyes snapped open as fear took over her expression. The moment she saw him, she screamed loudly and pushed herself back until she hit the wall, her body trembled as if she expected him to hurt her.
Liam watched her quietly, taking in every detail.
“Who are you?”
He asked in a calm but firm voice.
She did not answer him, her eyes were fixed on him in pure fear.
Her face was bruised and dirty, but even then, her features stood out. She was beautiful in a way that was hard to ignore, and her striking blue eyes looked like a storm, filled with fear yet holding something that made it difficult for him to look away. She looked like a fallen angel.
He slowly extended his hand toward her, but she immediately started crying and screaming again, as if she was begging him to stay away, which made Liam pause for a moment before pulling his hand back.
“You want to come out?”
He asked, his tone quieter this time.
She did not respond and only stared at him, unable to trust him or even understand his intention. Instead, she moved further away as much as the chain allowed.
Liam’s expression hardened slightly as irritation crept in. He was not here to save anyone, and he did not care about strangers.
“You are no better than dead anyway,”
He said coldly as he stood up.
He turned to leave, but something made him stop for a brief second. He glanced back at her, and their eyes met again. She did not say anything or ask for help, but her silence said enough.
For a moment, something inside him felt off, like his instincts and his mind were not in agreement. Yet he looked away and walked out. Leaving her behind.
“We are done. No one is left,”
Glenn said as he joined him.
Liam nodded once and walked out of the house with him.
They got into the car, and this time Liam took the driver’s seat himself, gripping the steering wheel tightly before starting the engine. As he drove away, he glanced at the mansion once more, and for a brief moment, the image of that girl flashed in his mind.
Her terrified eyes. Her bruised body. That chain.
He frowned slightly and looked back at the road, telling himself that someone else would find her if she survived. She will be more safe than around him.
“Where is Roman?”
Liam asked after a few minutes when he realized he was not in the car.
“Burning the house down,”
Glenn replied.
“He will join us once he is done.”
Liam’s grip on the steering wheel tightened instantly as those words registered in his mind. The image of the girl flashed again, stronger this time.
“Fucking hell,”
He muttered under his breath before suddenly turning the car sharply.
The sudden movement made the others jerk forward in shock.
“Liam, what are you doing?”
Glenn asked, confused.
But Liam did not answer. He pressed harder on the accelerator, and the car sped through the road at a dangerous speed as if it was racing against time.
Within minutes, they reached the mansion again, and this time it was already on fire. Flames spread rapidly, consuming everything in their path.
Roman stood outside, watching it burn.
The car had barely stopped when Liam opened the door and got out, his eyes were fixed on the burning structure. Without thinking for even a second, he ran inside like he has something preciou
s left inside the house.
“Liam!”
Glenn shouted in shock as he ran after him.
But Liam did not stop.
He walked straight into the fire.
For a girl he doesn't even know!
